Alison Hannah-Katschkowsky

Alison is a native North Carolinian--born in Durham and raised in Shelby. She received her BA from UNC-Charlotte, and MA from East Carolina University in Greenville. The oldest of four children and a veteran swimmer, she grew up in a medically-oriented family, so she knew early on she wanted to be a player in the health care arena. Before completing her graduate work, she worked in physical therapy and sports medicine at Presbyterian-Orthopedic Hospital, in Charlotte. During graduate school she earned her CSCS credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and worked with private clients in their homes, and in a large fitness center. Upon completing her internship at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, she moved to Raleigh to work for World Gym Fitness Centers, and started her own business. Her athletic background and interest in weight training led her to a competitive bodybuilding career. Alison also is proficient in Pilates and Gyrokenesis, having first became acquainted with both in personal training, and worked to obtain her certification under Radonna Patterson at Bodyworks Treatment and Prevention Center in Durham. She continues to work with Radonna and loves to share that knowledge with others about the many benefits of Pilates. Alison loves what she does and it is evident in every aspect of her work. She continues to train herself, and relishes a good challenge! Alison also enjoys reading, writing, cooking, outdoor activities (particularly water sports) and also teaches in the health and fitness program at Meredith College in Raleigh. She and her husband, John, live in Durham with their two children, a golden retriever ('Early') and a black and white alleycat ('Ladybug').
